The Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) E790 is the newest addition to Hitachi's midsized enterprise product range. It was designed to use NVMe to give a market-leading performance in a compact, cost-effective form factor. The VSP E790 has a single, flash-optimized Storage Virtualization Operating System (SVOS) image on Intel Xeon multi-core, multi-threaded processors. The new VSP E Series machines provide the best performance in a 2U form factor, primarily because of SVOS optimizations. For accessing flash media over a PCIe bus or storage fabric, VMe offers a streamlined command set that supports up to 64K distinct queues, each with a queue depth of 64K. The most recent VSP E series arrays come with the efficient operating system and cutting-edge processors needed to utilize flash with the NVMe protocol fully.
